MCPHERSON WINES
NAGAMBIE LAKES, VIC
McPherson Wines was established in 1968. Andrew McPherson established his own winery facility in 1974 and became chief winemaker. The winery continued to grow for five more years until it was sold so that McPherson could pursue other roles in the booming Australian wine industry.
In 1993 McPherson Wines was reformed with principal vineyard holdings in the Murray-Darling region near Mildura, one of Australia's most exciting new regions for grape growing.
Then the acquisition of 350 acres in the Goulburn Valley of 'red brick dust' soil with deep gravel offered even greater promise for cooler climate red wines in the McPherson portfolio. This saw the introduction of the Basilisk range of wines which are already collecting a host of awards and medals.
In early 2000, McPherson Wines put the finishing touches on a new winery and state-of-the-art bottling facility. Located just outside the town of Nagambie, the new winery is 110km (60 miles) north of Melbourne, near the banks of the Goulburn River.
